Artist Statement
As an artist, the focus of my work is on painting the light and color that is magnified in reflections. The imagery is a result of still-life objects that engage in reflection and refraction; they are then photographed through filters such as glass or plastic, to further enhance the distortion. The photographs are intentionally cropped to remove the context of still-life, creating interesting abstract images for a wealth of visual vocabulary to explore in my painting. I want the viewer to question what they see, to create a dialogue in our communities regarding sustainability of our resources and caring for our environment.
